So today a friend of mine posted a statement, mostly rhetorical, that I couldn't resist commenting on. She said (I'm paraphrasing here) she's experienced lately that women have little to no respect for each other and that's why she limits her interaction with them. Immediately my stomach twisted into a knot and I felt my blood quicken. What!?! I'm so over women hating women. I'm not saying that's what she was doing and I'm not saying there's not some truth to what she said because that shit does happen but, disrespecting other human beings isn't an issue specific to women. What I am saying though, is that I'm not gonna let that shit ride in my presence. I'm going to defend myself and other women whenever I can, at the risk of alienating people or straight up pissing them off. I will not go gentle into that dark night.
